D.C. Wedding at District Winery

As photographers, there is no greater compliment than being asked to photograph the wedding of someone we know personally. That is the case with this Washington D.C. wedding at District Winery. Several years ago, Dan taught photography at a boarding school in Maryland which the groom, Mao-Tong attended. Mao-Tong is now the third West Nottingham Academy student who’s wedding we’ve had the honor of capturing!

In addition to attending as a student, Mao-Tong returned to West Nottingham after college as and taught for several years. Jill also worked at the school and it is where they met and fell in love! They’ve now moved onto a school in Virginia and were married in our nation’s capitol because Mao-Tong grew up in the area.

Mao-Tong and Jill were married on a beautiful early August afternoon at the District Winery in the Navy Yard area of Washington D.C.  The beautiful venue is nestled in the middle of a hip and bustling neighborhood on the banks of the Potomac. The industrial-style architecture and stunning river views were the perfect backdrop for wedding images.

The beautiful bride, Jill, was cool as a cucumber the entire day! She stunned guests in her beautiful dress from Celebration Bridal in Lynchburg, Virginia. The gorgeous florals were by Helen Olivia Flowers. Hair and makeup were by UpDos For I Dos. The Bridesmaids all wore lovely dresses by Azazie and the Groom and Groomsmen wore tuxes from The Black Tux.

We had a wonderful time in D.C. capturing Mao-Tong and Jill’s wedding. It was a beautiful celebration and we are so thankful to have played such an important role in their big day!

Long Island, New York Wedding

This Long Island, New York wedding is very special to me because the bride and I went to college together. One of my favorite things about this job is getting to photograph the weddings of old friends. Jessica and I met on the first day of freshman orientation at our alma mater, Clark University. Years ago Jessica commented on a post from a wedding I had photographed saying she was going to have me photograph her wedding one day, and she wasn’t kidding. Earlier this year, she called me up to tell me the good news. It is always an honor when a couple chooses us to photograph their wedding, and an even bigger honor when it is an old friend.

Jessica and Carl’s wedding took place on a beautiful fall day the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It was an unseasonably warm November day in New York, which was especially nice because it’s been awhile since I’ve experienced a real northern winter.

The wedding ceremony and reception took place at Harbor Club at Prime in Huntington, New York. The venue featured beautiful views of Huntington Harbor, which was the perfect backdrop for photos. I’ve lived in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, but had not ever been to Long Island. Huntington was beautiful and completely exceeded my expectations!

Fanny Cakes made the beautiful naked cake and cupcakes, and DJ Vin kept everyone dancing all night. The amazing food was provided by. Imperial Florist created the beautiful florals. Jessica looked amazing in her wedding dress, which was from Majesty in Danbury, Connecticut.

We had an amazing time photographing Jessica and Carl’s wedding. Thank you so much for allowing us to be your wedding photographers.
