Miranda and Kyle’s wedding was one for the books! It was a true honor to be asked to photograph their wedding because Dan has photographed events with Kyle’s mom, Melinda, and she is such a talented photographer, as well as just an all-around awesome person.
Kyle and Miranda were married on what seemed like the first cool day of fall. The weekend before was hot and humid and felt like mid-July, but it was crisp and sunny on their wedding day which was such a welcome change. They transformed the backyard of Melinda’s house into a breathtaking ceremony and reception site. The ceremony took place beneath a beautiful large tree adorned with string lights, linen, and florals. There was a beautiful creek at the edge of the property which was an incredible spot for photos. Seriously, can every venue have a babbling creek with smooth tan rocks and gorgeous fall foliage? IT. WAS. PERFECT.
Aside from the gorgeous location, their wedding was all about enjoying time with family and friends. Children were playing everywhere we looked, people were dancing to the music the DJ was playing, and they even had a bonfire at the end of the evening. Of course, smores were included! Kyle and his daughter put together a non-traditional father-daughter dance sent to a mash-up of popular songs. Kyle also sang a Conway Twitty song to his beautiful bride. There were so many touching moments to this wedding, it would be impossible to list them all. We were so happy to be a part of it. Thank you, Melinda, Miranda, and Kyle!
This classic wedding at The Hermitage Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee is full of beautiful details and wonderful people. Kimi and Derek, the bride and groom, had a clear vision of what they wanted for their wedding. They knew they wanted great photography to capture their day, of course. They also wanted to incorporate elements that had special meaning to them. Their floral decor featured orchids because they are orchid growers themselves. They assembled their own paper products for the programs, menus and more. They even stamped each handmade item with wax for an extra personal touch.
It was important for Kimi and Derek to spend time with their family and friends over the course of the weekend. They kicked off their festivities with an intimate rehearsal dinner followed by rounds of bowling at Pinewood Social. I personally love the atmosphere of Pinewood Social and thought it served as the perfect, low-stress rehearsal dinner venue. It was a great start to the weekend!
Both the bride and groom work in downtown Nashville and knew that was where they would be married. Their wedding took place at The Hermitage Hotel, which itself was significant because the bride’s grandfather frequently stayed there when he served as a Tennessee State Senator.
The Big Event
Kimi and Derek got ready for their nuptials and spent time with their family and friends. This was my first time photographing an event at the Hermitage Hotel and I loved everything about it. The building is steeped in Nashville history and the architecture is truly a city treasure. The veranda, where the ceremony took place, is filled with natural light and beautiful white decor which served as the perfect place for photos. The staff was excellent and made sure the day went off without a hitch!
Kimi and Derek’s wedding planner did an amazing job organizing all of the details and ensuring a stress-free day. The florists, Rebel Hill Florist, did an incredible job bringing Kimi and Derek’s vision to life. We were so honored to work with all of these fantastic Nashville Wedding Vendors.
