This Long Island, New York wedding is very special to me because the bride and I went to college together. One of my favorite things about this job is getting to photograph the weddings of old friends. Jessica and I met on the first day of freshman orientation at our alma mater, Clark University. Years ago Jessica commented on a post from a wedding I had photographed saying she was going to have me photograph her wedding one day, and she wasn’t kidding. Earlier this year, she called me up to tell me the good news. It is always an honor when a couple chooses us to photograph their wedding, and an even bigger honor when it is an old friend.
Jessica and Carl’s wedding took place on a beautiful fall day the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It was an unseasonably warm November day in New York, which was especially nice because it’s been awhile since I’ve experienced a real northern winter.
The wedding ceremony and reception took place at Harbor Club at Prime in Huntington, New York. The venue featured beautiful views of Huntington Harbor, which was the perfect backdrop for photos. I’ve lived in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, but had not ever been to Long Island. Huntington was beautiful and completely exceeded my expectations!
Fanny Cakes made the beautiful naked cake and cupcakes, and DJ Vin kept everyone dancing all night. The amazing food was provided by. Imperial Florist created the beautiful florals. Jessica looked amazing in her wedding dress, which was from Majesty in Danbury, Connecticut.
We had an amazing time photographing Jessica and Carl’s wedding. Thank you so much for allowing us to be your wedding photographers.
We’re so excited to share this beautiful Key West wedding with you today! This wedding is extra special because the groom is one of Dan’s former photography students. This is the second former student Dan has gotten to photograph in the last year. Last fall, Dan photographed another former student’s wedding, Carl and his wife Jill. Tim was a groomsmen for Carl and was dating Haley at the time. A few months later Tim contacted Dan because he and Haley were engaged and they wanted Dan to be their photographer! Dan was thrilled and honored to say the least. The fact that they were planning to get married in Key West didn’t hurt either!
Over the years, we’ve photographed several beach weddings in Florida, and Dan had been visiting family there since he was a child, yet this was his first trip to Key West. Haley and Tim’s Key West wedding took place at Smather’s Beach, directly across from The Sheraton Suites Key West, which is where there reception took place. It was a beautiful location that was perfect for photos. The staff at Sheraton Suites did a great job planning this destination wedding for Haley and Tim. Especially considering that this wedding took place just a few weeks after Hurricane Irma ripped through South Florida. Everyone asked what it was like down there after the hurricane, and honestly if we hadn’t know it had happened, we never would have guessed there had been such devastation weeks prior. Everyone on the island did an amazing job cleaning up – and everyone at the Sheraton did a fantastic job getting everything ready for Tim and Haley’s beautiful wedding. Thank you so much Haley and Tim for having us as your wedding photographers. We can’t tell you how much it meant to us and we wish you nothing but the best for many years to come!!
