Being a super-dramatic girl from the south I'm always saying things like, "This is one of my most favorite" or "That's got to be the prettiest__ I've ever seen!" or "OMGoodness that's my favorite__ ever!!" And lately I've been getting called out on it because *apparently* I say it all the time, which is fine. Except recently, someone said, "Oh I'm sure you say that to everyone," which ok, yeah, thinking back, I do...  SORRY Y'ALL! I just like what you do!!

Well, in fear of not sounding totally sincere, which I do truly mean it, I've decided to stop all together with the favorite this and that business. I'm going to try and cut it from my vocabulary all together...

-- BUT---

...definitely not until I'm done with this post!! Cause y'all this is seriously no doubt one of my all time, knock down, drag out favorite weddings of all time! :)

Over the years I think I've become a connoisseur of weddings... I love weddings, all kinds... And I'm not a snob. You could spend $50 or $50,0000 on your wedding dress and I don't care. What I am looking for (and Dan would agree) is the love and it's really all I care about. Without sounding too cheesy because I don't know how else to describe it, at a wedding, I am a seeker of love... I'm on the hunt for it.  I'm not just talking about the love between a couple, though that's really what a wedding is all about. I'm looking for the spark between the couple, the love the family shows...a mother, a father... the love and fun between a group of friends. It could also be the thought and love going into planning the wedding. The love put into every detail or the love that a really talented vendor puts into their work. It could be a venue, a dress, an uncut field, a look, a vibe, a color scheme -- there is literally something I love, LOVE at every wedding we go to.

For this next wedding just go on and prepare yourself for me saying the words 'Favorite' and 'Love' a lot! Y'all are seriously going to love it all!

For me, this next wedding has a lot of loves starting with the couple, our dear friends. Y'all may remember our friends Michelle and Christopher from their engagement shoot last summer. It IS sincerely one of my all time favorites :). I believe it's one of mine and Dan's personal best. Be sure to read all about them, and what they mean to us.

I love that shoot AND this picture from their wedding, my favorite of the day!

So just a little background on what made this wedding so special.
The night Michelle and Christopher got engaged their house caught on fire and a lot of their things were destroyed... Ironically Christopher is a fireman. Anyway, to take Michelle's mind off the fire and crazy mess in her house we took her to some antique shops the next day and we bought a few items for inspiration for her wedding. Michelle came up with some pretty darn cute stuff that truly made their wedding one of a kind. I don't think there was a guest there that didn't just feel the love that surrounded this amazing couple.

Enjoy!

We started the day shooting details at the reception site. Michelle made sure everything was pretty much ready to go for us. It was great! If you have great details and table set ups the best time to take photos is before... it's almost impossible to get a great shot once it's night time and the tables are full with people, plates, glasses and stuff...

michelle_christopher_combo4.jpg
Wildflowers galore!! Love, love, love

michelle_christopher_combo5.jpg
Their dog Balou... I'm including him as a detail :)

michelle_christopher_w2480.jpg
Love, love this!!

michelle_christopher_combo7.jpg
Michelle collected these ribbons. They were going to hang in a tree where the ceremony took place but it rained the morning of the wedding. They hung in a different place and I still loved them... all the colors.

Their wedding took place at Eseeola Lodge, which is definitely one of my favorite wedding venues in the southeast!

Michelle_chris-1b.jpg
Christopher doesn't like wedding cake so they had about 15 homemade pound cakes made by mothers, godmothers, past teachers and long time family friends. Read more about her sweet details at the end of this post!

michelle_christopher_w2675.jpg
They set up stuff for a photo booth, which was really fun at the reception.

michelle_christopher_combo3.jpg
I'm obsessed with all of the color.

After we shot all the details we went over to our friend Jenna's where the girls were getting ready.

Back at Eseeola we did shots of Michelle by herself and the wedding party. PS -- Aren't you in love with her dress, bouquet, and all those gorgeous flowers at Eseeola. Favorite! I want all of that at my house!

michelle_christopher_combo2.jpg
The bridesmaid bouquets were simple and sweet.

michelle_christopher_w1522.jpg
But not as sweet as this groom! Christopher might be the nicest guy I've ever met! (That's another thing I say all the time... but Christopher you really are a gem!!)

michelle_christopher_w2057.jpg
Gimme a cigar, some suspenders, some good lookin' boys and I'm one happy girl!

michelle_christopher_w2379b.jpg

michelle_christopher_w2329b.jpg
The boys all wore different ties, which I'm sure Michelle picked out.

michelle_christopher_w2179.jpg
The girls... Well, we all wore different dresses... that we picked out and Michelle approved. I like this one in black and white but there's more below :)

michelle_christopher_w1964b.jpg
She wanted lots of lavender and grayish pinks. Michelle brought tons of accessories for us to wear like the super cute necklace I have on below (I was a 'bridesmaid' and photographer in case you didn't read their engagement post...busy day!! I'm not crazy about that picture of myself I just wanted to show the necklace...).

--- The Ceremony ---

This is definitely one of my most favorite wedding ceremonies ever!!
I'm starting with these leading up to shots because I love them...

Michelle and her mom

michelle_christopher_w3089.jpg
Their ceremony shots were some of my favorite of the day because Michelle and Christopher put sooooo much in to their ceremony and we were able to get close.

From Michelle: When Christopher and I talked about our wedding we were certain about some things from the beginning. We wanted the ceremony to take place outside surrounded by the mountains where we live and fell in love. We also wanted not only our wedding party to stand with us during the ceremony but also our friends and family. So everyone gathered around us, standing during the ceremony. We did have seating for people who couldn't physically stand but everyone else gathered closely around us, we wanted it to be as intimate as possible.

Our vows were my favorite part of the whole day. Christopher and I wrote our vows together. We tried to keep them strong, simple, and directly meaningful to us.

C-I promise to love you

M-I promise to love you

C-I promise to always make you and our family my number one priority

M-I promise to lift your spirits when they are down

C-I promise to remind you of how beautiful you are

M-I promise to help you reach your dreams and follow mine

c-I promise to never take you or us for granted

M-I promise to make life fun and exciting

C-I promise to be honest

M-I promise to be compassionate

C-I promise to provide for you

M-I promise to remind you of the love we feel right now

C-I promise to make you happy

M-Will you promise to be my husband?

C-I will, will you promise to be my wife?

M-I will

michelle_christopher_w3152.jpg

michelle_christopher_w3129.jpg
And, with everyone gathered around them, we were able to be right there, up close for everything without making too much commotion...

michelle_christopher_combo10.jpg
A spontaneous kiss...

michelle_christopher_w3307.jpg
hug...

michelle_christopher_w3354.jpg
and flower toss...
Yes, you can borrow my friends for your wedding. They are quite fun :)

michelle_christopher_w3368.jpg
If I remember correctly it took a little persuading, but for the pictures of Michelle and Christopher, we drove them up the road a few mins to this random patch of wildflowers.

And all of that was followed by a GREAT first dance.
Love this!! Favorite!

michelle_christopher_w4208.jpg
The reception was dominated by dancing and the photo booth for which Michelle's ribbons came in very handy.

michelle_christopher_w4861.jpg
If these women are crazy,

michelle_christopher_w4886.jpg
then Dan and I are just plain lucky because next year we're doing Christopher's sister's wedding at this location in Northern CA! Woot, woot, wooot!!! Hip, hip hooray!!!

michelle_christopher_w4513.jpg
Christopher is always doing things like this:

michelle_christopher_w4973.jpg
and this!

michelle_christopher_w4805.jpg
It started raining at their reception so when they got wet, the lavender everyone threw stuck right to them! It was pretty funny.

michelle_christopher_w5082.jpg
The end... except...

michelle_christopher_w5139.jpg
This post wouldn't be complete without a couple things...

A very sweet description of details (in Michelle's words). All the wedding goo rues will be interested in this:

• The sign that stood outside the pavilion was hand made by the father of the groom.

• When guests arrived they were greeted with the sounds of sweet bluegrass, compliments of a family members band. There was also fresh lemonade served in mason jars with old timey straws.

• The father of the groom also made a tree stump mimicking our rsvp cards. He came to us months before the wedding and said that he had this great idea. The old tree in front of their home had been struck by lightning and had been dead for years. He had been meaning to cut it down. He chopped it, carved it and mounted it beautifully. We got to see it for the first time the day of the wedding and it was a beautiful surprise.

• Over the course of the engagement I collected all sorts of ribbon and lace with help from the mother of the groom for the photo booth backdrop. My mother and I crafted it the week of the wedding.

• All the props for the photo booth were donated from both sides of the family. The suitcase they were stuffed in is an antique from the grooms side.

• The lanterns that sat on the mantel were all part of one of the groom's uncles personal collection. He collects antique lanterns and gets them working again. He set them all up and lit them for us the day of.

• The cake table was a compilation of pound cakes made by some very special women. Christopher doesn't really care for sweets but he loves a good homemade pound cake. So the decision to not have a cake was easy.  From mothers and godmothers to past teachers and longtime family friends, we had around fifteen pound cakes made with love.

• One of our dearest friends directed the wedding. Her gift to us was the candy bar.  We had small L monogrammed bags for people to fill with candy and take home with them. She picked out all the candy and brought in her own jars to fill them with.

• Guests were offered hankies for their tears of joy. Not one was left behind! I gave all my bridesmaids actual vintage hankies that I hand selected at different flea markets. But 250 people calls for a ton of hankies so I found them off ebay and they were vintage replicas...still beautiful though.

• All the bottles and tins used for the centerpieces were collected by Christopher and I over our year long engagement. The night we got engaged we had a house fire. Some of my bridesmaids were visiting us that weekend so to get my mind off the fire and bring me back to the exciting engagement they took me shopping. We went to this beautiful antique store down the road and we immediately decided my color scheme and they bought us the first few pieces for our wedding collection. After that Christopher and I had so much fun visiting flea markets, yard sales and thrift stores in search of center pieces. Half of the bottles and things were from our mothers, aunts, grandmothers and my maid of honors homes.

• The flowers were from a local nursery called Shady Grove. Christopher and I met them one Sunday at the farmers market and found out they would provide us with buckets full of seasonal wildflowers. One of my mother's best friends is a florist. He came up for the wedding and he and my mom made the most beautiful centerpieces and bouquets for us. He took my ideas and made them more beautiful than I could of ever wanted.

• The tables were covered in burlap and lavender.

• I am a graphic designer so I designed and created all the paper goods we used. From the invitations to the straw flags. The programs though, were my most favorite.

• One of my very talented bridesmaids sang the song for our first dance.

• September 11th, our wedding date, was a special day because it is the groom's parents wedding anniversary. We are honored they were so happy to share this day with us. It made they day extra special.

A couple shots of the invitations Michelle created for her wedding, which we also loved

It's Tuesday evening -- I had a margarita and some yummy Mexican for dinner, the baby is fast asleep, and all is well in my little world :)... especially since tonight we're pulling out the 4th and final post on Paige & John's fabulous wedding at Blackberry Farm! It's been so fun blogging this wedding in multiple posts. It's one of our favorite ever and it's nice to be able to show so many more images than we normally do. So if you haven't seen the others be sure to check out Parts 1, 2 and 3!

For those of you who have been following us through these last few postings, you know we're stuck on this wedding because it has all the essential components. Great couple, location, details AND they put a lot of thought into every aspect of the day..... like even a speech given by the groom at the reception (amazing, still thinking about it) AND they did a 'real' dance at the reception, like something rehearsed and I triple scoop with cherries on top looooooooove when a couple does that! It's such a nice touch.

So without further adieu, this is it! The last and final post from Paige and John's wedding. Enjoy and hope all is well in your little worlds as well :)

For those of you who know what I like, you can probably guess I love this next picture. It's the same reason I love this one

Without further adieu ----- (and believe me I'm fearing of another power outage any second because we've not had power for seven out of the last ten days due to the recent storms) ---- here is the third, but not final, installment of Paige & John's drop dead gorgeous, jaw dropping wedding at Blackberry Farm :)... Picture this:

A crystal clear spring day in the mountains, pre-May... Gorgeous scenery, darling couple.... ah-mazing venue. Just showing up to a scene like this on wedding day makes our hearts go pitter patter :). And to think, we were so busy the day of the wedding we didn't even see the ceremony site decked out until right before guests were being seated. It was so beautiful I literallly got chills!

But this is not really what this post is about. Scroll down...

paige_john_w2822.jpg

This is :).

The heart and soul of every wedding is the ceremony...

In planning my own wedding I didn't think to much about the ceremony. I thought it was going to be pretty standard and put way more thought and effort into every other aspect of the day. That was foolish because it turned out to be the best part of the whole day. I will never, ever forget the way Dan was looking at me when we were standing up there together. It was like we were the only two people on earth and just remembering his face during those moments could seriously make me smile for a lifetime. Ahh...

So, no matter how good and potentially publishable the venue/scenery/details/flowers are, Dan and I are most importantly there to capture those amazing moments leading up to, during, and after those intense moments when a couple is making those sacred commitments. These little slices of life are gone in the blink of an eye... and my advice to any bride is to not be too busy to have them

This post is all about, as we call them, 'the candid moments.' And I happen to usually like these moments in black and white. To me, looking back on these moments should feel nostalgic, classic. These moments are void of any trend, or style.... or color.  They are about the moment - about real life as it happens, on the most important day of a couple's life together.

One of the things I most love about our business is that Dan and I get to work together.  Of course, we love that we get to be together every day.  But, it is also a HUGE plus from a photography standpoint to have two photographers covering a wedding ceremony.  So much is happening at any wedding, it is impossible for one person to capture it all.  By having two principal photographers shooting all day, we are able to do so much more and do it so much better than we ever could on our own.  And hopefully the result is tons of candid moments captured forever.

So here we go, a post all about the candid moments :) Enjoy!

Below Paige and her Dad are just moments away from the ceremony, watching everyone coming in, waiting for everyone to be seated, peaking through the curtains and talking about what they see...getting excited.

If you've been following our blog for a while, you know that watching the couple walk the aisle together after the ceremony is one of our absolute favorite parts of the day (and favorite photos of the day). PS - I love Paige's dad looking at her mom in the background ;)

Shortly after the ceremony we walked down the hill to this swing with the wedding party -- I think these are so fun!

The end for today!
