If you've been following our blog for a while, you might remember Heidi and Mike from their engagement photos last Fall, but before I get to their wedding, I need to back up a little further. The first time I met Heidi, Dan was out of town. So, Heidi came over to the house to meet just me. We ended up chatting for a really long time about wedding plans, Italy, and basically you name it. I felt bad because our 12-year old dog, Blue, especially liked Heidi and was all over her the whole time. He could not help himself from standing near her, laying at her feet, nuzzling up against her... the whole time.... and she let him and even acted like she enjoyed petting him (which is saying a lot because he's kind of breathy, stinky and sheds all over the place).
So, fast-forward to the day before their wedding... When we got to Chattanooga Heidi handed us this little weclome bag and said with a wink, 'There's something for Mr. Blue in there." Now how sweet is that? I mean, it's not like she didn't have a lot on her mind and there she was thinking of Blue!!!! I just thought I'd tell that little story so you could get an idea of how KIND Heidi and Mike are. And for the record, Blue was very happy when we got home --- he didn't mind us being gone one bit when we came home with all of those yummy treats :)

Back to the wedding, Heidi and Mike were married on the patio of the Maclellan House, which is located in the Bluff View Arts District in Chattanooga, TN. It's a historic area that overlooks the Tennessee River -- there are restaurants, a coffee house, an art gallery, a sculpture garden, three old houses that make up an inn and the whole thing looks very Europeanish. It's really cool and a great spot for a small intimate wedding, which is exactly what Heidi and Mike accomplished.
To give you more of an idea about how intimate this wedding was, here is a picture of everyone who was there.... I love it!! Dan and I had a small wedding too!!

Let me just set the stage a little........ And, check out that fun Groom's cake at the bottom!!

Getting ready!

Mike was a very handsome groom ;)

Heidi's mom buttoning up her gown

Heidi and Mike decided to see each other before the ceremony.... I always love these little sequences.

On the way to the ceremony

This is one of my favorites! So sweet!!

Heidi's best-friend Dana did the ceremony and did a great job!! It was sooo sweet and I'm pretty sure she's the one who originally introduced Heidi and Mike too....

A great kiss!!

See what I mean about it looking European?! I especially like the one on the right.

And now the good light!

Heidi is so cute and was pretty much beaming the whole day!

My fav!!!

Meet Ashley & Andy. I first started talking to Ashley this spring because she was getting ready to graduate from UT and thought it might be fun to put a picture in her announcement/ invitation. But, the shoot got rained out and we were on a tight deadline with the invitation so it didn't happen. I was THRILLED though when Ashley called back a month or so later and said told us that she just got ENGAGED!!! Best of all, to her high school sweetheart, Andy, who she's been dating for almost 100 years. Ashley and Andy were so cute together and it really showed because it was literally like 100 degrees and 200% humidity when we did these pictures. I think you have to be REALLY in love to touch and kiss when it's that hot!! Not that you could tell with Ashley and Andy, though...they looked great the whole time, as you'll see. Dan and I - well, that's a different story. Ashley and Andy probably thought we were totally disgusting because we were sweating so much... I think at one point Dan went inside and got a roll of paper towels so we could wipe the sweat off our faces! - LOL. BUT, the light was amazing partly because it had just rained ---- it was probably some of the best light we've shot in all year! I hardly had to do anything to most of these pictures because they were great just how they were, because of the light and the subjects :) Enjoy!
Heidi and Mike, yall are next!!
I'm not going in order with these pics.... we started on the river downtown and then went back to our farm. It'll be easy to tell what's what.
I love this one

We have two favorites, this is one.

Early this spring I planted 100 or more boxes of wildflower seeds along our really long driveway. Nothing came up (or so I thought) until we were walking down the driveway and I noticed something colorful behind the tall weeds! Here is the pretty little spot -- I know, I'm like a proud momma. Sadly, that's about it for the wildflowers, it's mostly weeds :(

I think Ashley looks a bit like Reese Witherspoon - so jealous!

We love these next three

This is our other favorite

Just a good, straight-up portrait

The End!

Michelle says:
whoa! yay for wildflowers! I love those and this last one...and cute boys in pink polos! Great job guys.
Jamie says:
OMG!!!!! These are just so good!! I want a shoot just like this!! Of course we wouldn't look as gorgeous as they do!.... :(
Jen N. says:
Beautiful photos, as always :) Can't wait to see you and Dan in September!
P.S. I am envious of your wildflowers!

Hi Friends! I am so excited to post this wedding! I have been waiting for weeks to start working on these pics because I've been going in order and finally our last wedding in May is finished!
This wedding was really special for us because Tyler (and Slate) are our personal friends. Tyler is part of what I call my 'NC girl group' or my 'Ya-Yas' which consists of 7 of the most beautiful, special, hilarious girls you will ever meet. If you have been following our blog for a long time you already know some if not all of them: Jenna and Emily both got married last year and Emily had Baby Barnes. You'll also remember Erin, who you last saw with a big baby belly. Then there is Lindsey, Michelle, Ashley & Tyler who you met in this post. Working on these pics got me really pumped up for this upcoming weekend. It's a non-wedding weekend for us but we'll be seeing most of these girls and their guys plus Erin & Chris and Daniel! -- I'm not going to say what we're doing just yet but I'm sure it'll be post-worthy :)
Back to Tyler, sweet Tyler! Rewind (years!)... Tyler and Slate were really good friends. They are both originally from Martinsville, VA but lived in Banner Elk, NC. Slate pursued Tyler for forever, but as far as Tyler was concerned they were 'just friends'. According to Michelle, they used to hang out together all the time and Slate used to ask Tyler, "Do you love me today?" and one day, she finally said "Yes!"
Since then, fate has intervened... just take a look at this photo from Jenna's wedding - Tyler is the tall and gorgeous one about to catch the bouquet!!!! (now make a mental note of the girl standing three people to the right of Tyler. We'll get to that in a minute;))

On to the main attraction! A classic!

Friday before the rehearsal we did a mini engagement session just for practice because Tyler was (like you all) nervous about having her picture made. Total ringers!

On to Saturday!

How could you not love this face?

From the church to the reception

I can not decide between these next two...

Remember the girl from above who missed the bouquet at Jenna's wedding? Well, she didn't miss it this time! Hmmm...wonder what good things are in store for her!? I predict a very good year --- this is one girl who definitely deserves it!!

There are soo many more photos we want to share so if you'd like to see more please take a look at their slideshow!!
