Meet two of our very best friends, Michelle & Christopher. Michelle is one of my girls, she's super sweet, totally sassy (see right), and we have a lot in common. She's pretty much amazing and one of the best kind of friends a girl could ask for. Although Michelle & Christopher live in North Carolina, we spend a lot of time together... on the phone... for sometimes hours... at least 2-3 nights a week while I'm working around the house. She's a great friend, we talk about any and everything, though lately we've been talking a lot about her wedding... which is pretty much going to be a photographer's dream...lucky me! Think Eseeola Lodge, paper cranes hanging from a tree, croquet, vintage glass bottles, bluegrass, guests standing in a circle around Michelle & Christopher while they say thier vows -- I swear I get chills just thinking about it!!
For Michelle & Christopher's wedding I get to be both bridesmaid and photographer, which means that instead of holding a bouquet, I'll be wearing a cute dress AND holding a camera most of the day ;). Then at some point during the reception I'll put down my camera and break it down on the dance floor with my girls while Dan continues to take care of business.

All of the bridesmaids for Michelle & Christopher's wedding are wearing different dresses that we are buying from wherever, all having a shade of purple or lavendar. We're bringing them to the beach this weekend to see how they look together since we all live in different places and I'm totally excited to see how it all turns out. Anyways, back to the main subject of this post - their engagement shoot! No matter how much Michelle & I talked and planned this shoot before it happened, it still felt like a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants engagement session, which always turns out to be the best anyways --- and this is definitely a new favorite. Although it looks like this shoot took place somewhere out West (at least that's what I think), it was our first time to do a shoot in Cades Cove. If you don't know what that is, Cade's Cove is a famous part of the Great Smokey Mountain National Park that tons of people visit and drive through every day. And, for anyone that's ever been to Cades Cove, you know how crowded the loop can be with all of the Sunday drivers and nature lovers. But, we have now totally figured out how to do an engagement shoot up there without getting stuck. Despite the traffic, it is always absolutely worth the trip. Every view up there is so gorgeous and along with a couple that is so dear makes this a shoot that I absolutely LOVE!!! Here are just some of our favs, I had such a hard time picking ones to blog!! Their full gallery is really full, so, so many fun pics!! Enjoy!!
Next up will be one of my favorite, FAVORITE weddings ---- Nate & Ashley that's you! Get excited!!! ;)
I think the one in the middle should be Michelle's new facebook profile pic ;)

After 4 weeks of agonizing uncertainty, Dan and I finally closed on our new house and moved in last week. (But don't worry, we can still do all the engagement shoots we want out at the farm where we used to live!) And although the task of moving, unpacking, organizing and redecorating can seem a bit overwhelming, we're thrilled with our new abode :). Thanks so much for being patient with us as we've been a little slower than normal on updating our blog. We've got some really great stuff to post in the next few days, but until then here's something that will surely make you smile...

Oh, how sometimes I would love to wave a wand and have a magical, self-publishing blog. One that is fresh with new & beautiful pictures every day of the week! One with which each of our readers could sit down with their morning coffee every day and marvel at all of the happy couples and beautiful places we are so blessed to photograph. But alas, maybe I don't need a magic wand, the last goal of my day is now complete! I have finished editing this gorgeous wedding that I have been dying to publish for about a week.
It is such a rewarding feeling to finish editing a wedding and look back over the photographs and all of the memories that were captured - ah, the magic of photography!
Dan and I always agree (on this topic at least :)) that being a wedding photographer, in our opinion, is the absolute greatest job in the world... We get to work with people at one of the happiest times of their life, on one of the most memorable days of their life and create personalized art for people that (hopefully) encompasses the joy, love, spirituality and hope felt that day.
Now, without further delay... Welcome to the wonderful wedding of Lisa & Ben!
When we arrived in Linville, NC a few weeks ago to shoot Lisa & Ben's wedding at Eseeola Lodge we were quite thrilled with the scene that was set before us (see the image on the right). The light, location and love were all A++.
Now add in beautiful children & dresses. Sprinkle in a rustic arbor covered in flowers, beautiful sweet, sweet people, and touches of green. Oh I loved the green!

And finally, the best part of the day, the icing on the cake ;) - a super cool, down to earth, totally in love couple who we could easily hang out with every day of the week! All of the best circumstances we could ever ask for!

OH, and I almost forgot, an equally entertaining wedding party ;) Haha.

Simple beauty, casual elegance, here are some of our favorite shots of the day! Enjoy!

This just makes me smile :)

I normally post a wider shot of the bride walking down the aisle (so you get a good look at the dress and guests), but since it's a Friday night, let's spice it up! I think this one is far more interesting. It has great movement and I just love the look in her eye...

...almost as much as I love the look in his :)... That almost made me cry just now!

Lisa's mom and dad were just the nicest people you could ever ask to work for.

I always love the moments following the ceremony. Ben and his mother on the right.

Top left is the open-air pavilion at Eseeola where Lisa & Ben had their reception and I'm REALLY in love with it! Bottom right are my girls Michelle & Tyler who were guests and referred Lisa & Ben to us last year -- thanks girls!! (We luuuuve working with our friend's friends and client's friends!!) Y'all will see Michelle's engagement pics at Cades Cove in a couple of weeks and you might remember Tyler & Slate's wedding from May 2009. T, who is expecting a little girl in September, is seriously the most beautiful pregnant woman ever!

Ben is so cute and I want Lisa's lips! and eyes!

The first dance.

A really fun reception. We loved how everything photographed at night!

And rose petals for the exit! The end!!! Congrats Lisa & Ben!! Love to you both and thanks so much for having us!!! xoxo
